Mesa Verde, Colorado

For Spring Break we went to Mesa Verde, Colorado. It took about 6 hours to drive there and back, so all the kids watched movies in the car. We stayed in the Marriot Resident's Inn in Durango. Every night we went swimming at the hotel (I didn't get pictures of that).
Now to the Mesa Verde stuff.
Cliff Palace
These are some of the buildings that the indians used to live in.

If you look in the upper part of this picture, you will see 2 indian paintings.

These are some Kivas that they do ceremonies in.

(more buildings)

Other Ruins
I think this is the remains of a tower.

(this is a different tower)

These are hand cut stone steps.

This is the remains of a building.

A Bird's Eye Veiw
These pictures are from above everything. It's a really good veiw.

This is a wild horse.

Our Hotel
This is the room and bathroom that Katelyn and I used.

This is the kitchen.

We also had a living room with a pull-out couch that Dallin and Ben slept in. My mom and dad also had their own room.

We all had lots of fun.

Art Class

Today I had a little art class with Dallin and Katelyn. We learned about Flat Art,

(my art)

(Katelyn's art)

(Dallin's art)

Pop-Out Art,

(my art)

(Katelyn's art)

(Dallin's art)

and 3D Art with clay.

(my art)

(Dallin's art)

Now you are probobly wondering, what are these things? I will tell you. My flat art is a butterfly, my Pop-out Art is a map of the world, and my 3D Art is a girl.

Katelyn's Flat Art is a vase of flowers, her Pop-out Art is a boat going to Salt Lake City, and her 3D Art is a beehive.

Dallin's Flat Art is a square rainbow, his Pop-out Art (I think) is a beach with rocks, and his 3D Art is a guy with spiky hair.

Conference

For General Conference we had a lot of treats and we made conference tents. We made tents because in the Book of Mormon, there is a scripture talking about when King Benjamin gave his speech, the people brought their tents. They faced the tent doors towards the prophet. Our tent doors were facing the TV. :)

They started out being a boy tent and a girl tent but that didnt really work out. Then I came up with a new idea to do a big and fun conference tent.

This is the watching room where we can watch conference. (It is actually the girls tent pushed up against the slide.)

This is the game room (under the slide) where we can play games. We were playing Uno.

This is the resting room where we can just lounge around. (It's actually the boys tent with pillows inside.) We found out the maximum capacity of people for this room is four.

For snacks we had Pop Tarts, Ritz crackers, Oreos, Peanut M&M's, almonds, and Wheat Thins.

My favorite funny part about conference was at the end of the 2:00 Sunday session. When they were showing the congregation some guy stood up right in front of the camera, turned around and had this really big and cheezy smile on his face. Everyone in our family that was watching started laughing.

My favorite talk was when Elder Christofferson talked about the currant bush.
